New York Senate Introduces Freelance Bill

Last month, the New York Senate introduced the Freelance Isn’t Free bill (S8369). The bill would provide protections to independent contracts and calls for freelancers to "receive appropriate contracts for their work, [be] paid in a timely manner, and have state support to recoup unpaid wages.” The bill would also lower the threshold for mandating financial remediation for unpaid contract workers from $800 to $250.
